bmw 325es dashboard question

im a newbie so sorry in case of anything
okay on my dash console the speedometer works but the rpm meter does not work so what could that problem be or what can i do to find out????

Most likely a fuse. The box is in the left side rear of the engine bay.

Fuses 10 and 21 control the tach. You might have issues with the Service Indicator (SI) board in the bottom of the instrument cluster if the fuses aren't the problem.

could it be possible for it to be something else because the mpg meter doesnt work either

If the fuses are good, then it must be. But those were the same gages that failed by a blown fuse for me (a coin had dropped in the power/lighter plug).
