I knew my 4banger wasn't very big, so I was already looking at upgrading, but we threw a rod last night and now have a fist-size hole in the side of the engine, and now I NEED an upgrade. But I need to know which compatible engine would work best with my 1984 318i. It has a stick in it, but the tranny has been giving me problems too.
