Hello again...
Thanks for everyones help in my past posts!
Got a new question for you. On some thread I read that there is a rechargeable in the instrument cluster, and older e30's need to have them replaced once in a while.
'86 325e and the Oil Service light stays on which was mentioned in that same thread.
Is there a battery in the instrument cluster? If so, where can I find a replacement?
Will that possibly help the oil service light issue?
Thanks again

yeah, speedo, tach, and all lights work, but when I had the oil and coolant flushed and filled, (I would have done it myself, but doing an oil flush is really time consuming) they reset the oil service light, but it didn't turn the light off. I saw another post where that was mentioned and thought it would be a good idea to take care of it weather or not it was the source of my problem, since it is likely to fail in the future if it hasn't yet.

the batteries dont go bad that often, you can take the cluster out and look at the batteries, if they are bad they should be leaking.
The batteries are for the SI board which control more than just the service lights, since that is the only thing wrong that would lead me to believe there is another source for the problem. Maybe they need to reset the lights again, those lights are prone to messin up anyways, i dont remember the last one i saw that worked correctly all of the time, and most of them have a couple of green lights blown out.
Take it back to the people and ask them to try and reset the light again

You can reset the lights yourself, all you need is a wire with a fuse in the middle. Read: www.bmwe30.net > tech articles > resetting SI (Service Indicator) lights. If the lights do not remain reset after this procedure, the batteries on the SI board need replacement.
