Anybody know a good trick to get at that stupid brake line?
Yeah, I hate BMW right now. I hate my E30. I have one stupid rubber brake line left that I cannot for the life of me get at. It's the rear right inboard line. It's blocked by a heat shield. Take the shield off or bend it out of the way and you have a 4 inch by 2 inch work space to move a wrench that happens to be about 6 inches deep. Needless to say a 10mm box wrench will not be long enough to work there and my hands won't fit there either so what the fuck am I supposed to do? Ask it to loosen itself?
Oh and one more time. Fuck you, BMW. I fucking want to stab you with a dirty screwdriver.

i dunno just drop the rear subframe...i usually suggest waiting to do the rear brake lines till you do the IE poly subframe mounts so you can drop the rear subframe and do it all at once

Um, you either have a worn out 10mm wrench or someone rounded off the nut on the brake line cause it is an 11mm nut on the small side of the hose and a 14mm on the other one.
And like Kyle said its best to do those hoses with the subframe out othewise you need too invest in a long 11mm open end wrench.
You need a long open end wrench. The Snap-On ones work the best because the jaws on them are wide which help prevent rounding the nut off. The hoses can be done without taking the subframe or control arm out, I've done it, you just have to have the right tools.
