| This seems unique to Bimmers, but there is a bracket on the front of the alternator that has a toothed bolt on it. That toothing fits into a slotted bracket... So you will need to loosen the pivot bolt, then rotate that toothed bolt on the front, if you turn it one way, it will loosen the belt, the other way will tighten it. Once you have decent tension on it, just tighten the pivot bolt back up, and you SHOULD be good to go!
