Well my mechanic called today and I thought FINALY IM GETTING MY CAR BACK!! Wrong anwser...The front drive shaft is worn to the point where he feels that it should be replaced because if it go's I'll be screwed again. $500 bucks just for the drive shaft! Thier insane..It's a little piece of metal. He found a used one for $350 but damn ...that's just insane!! I'm to the point now where it may be time to sell the bimmer and move up to an e36!

Anyone know if the drive shaft on my ix is the same as all bimmers or is this yet another speacalty part!!

Well, since it's the front driveshaft, and BMW doesn't make front-wheel-drive cars, it's not likely to match anything but a 325ix.

good point...He just built it back up for now. with cathlic school,taxs and the trannie I just didn't have the extra cash to do it right now. I know I'll kick myself later.
