after engine repair a knocking sound...

couple of months ago my car(1991 325ix) jumped the timing belt and bent all 8 intake valves. today i got the car back but came with a notorious knocking sound coming from the head near the firewall. sounds like something is hitting the valve cover but the mechanic told me he had taken of the valve cover to see if it stopped but it didn't. the engine feels strong, no smoke coming from anywhere, it actually runs really smooth. what can be causing this knocking.

also the windows and the a/c stopped working, there's no power on those fuse sockets. could this be a relay problem or maybe something got disconnected during the engine job.

..... send it back and have them fix the windows and A/C if they worked before they did any work on it(Shop did it right??) is the knocking High like a ticking or a low knock like hammering you sad it sounds like something is hitting the valve cover? can you feel it?

maybe you have a bad lifter. if youve driven it much it should of pumped up. so bad lifter is just a though if you. since you said it sounded like the sound was comming from the head

.... If I recall right It is a over head cam that doesn't have lifters just a cam and rockers... Another question is did they adjust the valves to the correct spec?

if I touch the valve cover I can feel a little knock but as I said before the engine still made the sound with the valve cover off.

about the valve adjustment I'm pretty sure he did it right, this mechanic have worked on all of our cars for many years. he told us that he tried to find the reason for the knocking but came up empty.

Any input on the relays..??

i recently purchased a 1989 325 touring and when coming up through the revs it developed a knocking fron the front passenger footwell. It turned out to be water pulsing violently in the matrix. On further inspection it was the head gasket starting to weep

first of all, you don't have 8 intake valves. Secondly, they are solid lifters, not hydrolic. sounds to me like your mechanic is a tool....
