Add oil light will not extinguish

Hi,

This is an '87 325is I've had for three days. Was driving it today in bumper to bumper traffic and the add oil light popped on in the overhead computer. I checked it it was low so I added a quart of Mobil1 15w50. Problem is after restarting the engine and pushing check, I still have an add oil light. How do I get this light tio go out?

well if you have enough oil in it, the oil level indicator is the problem. it is located in the oil pan on the upper left side.
