AC/heater blower fan control problem????? help

its 87 325 is and my. for some reason when i turn it on it only works a 4 but on setting 1 2 and 3 doesn't work used:

why is it not working at 1 2 3 and only at 4 the highest fan setting???

It’s the heater blower fan resistor, this steps the voltage to the motor down to govern the speed, but at 4 the resistor is bypassed to give the motor full battery voltage. I think the resistor is mounted by the motor.

When you take off the fan motor cover, there is a little brown plastic piece that has three coiled springs on it... pull them out and get a new one... I did and it works now!
