AC/heater blower fan control problem????? help

its 87 325 is and my. for some reason when i turn it on it only works a 4 but on setting 1 2 and 3 doesn't work used:

why is it not working at 1 2 3 and only at 4 the highest fan setting???

bad man working is an unknown quantity at this point
Itís the heater blower fan resistor, this steps the voltage to the motor down to govern the speed, but at 4 the resistor is bypassed to give the motor full battery voltage. I think the resistor is mounted by the motor.

When you take off the fan motor cover, there is a little brown plastic piece that has three coiled springs on it... pull them out and get a new one... I did and it works now!
