Ok well I'll get right to the point. My brother is looking for a new car and he's always been in love with the older 3series shape. Anyway we came upon a 91 325 ix with 70k original miles. Here are the specs: red with tan interior, all available options, sunroof, ski package, heated seats, air, premium radio,70K miles, and 5spd trans. It's also a 2d coupe. We took a look at it and test drove it and it seemed to be in good shape. Some other nice things about it is that it was garage kept(not a single spot of rust on the body) and it's the original owner who has all the service records(all done at the same bmw dealership). Oh and he also mentioned that he just had new struts, sway bars, rotors, and new tires put on(6k worth of stuff/work). The carfax checks out, even includes the buy back guarantee. Only reason he's hesitating is that the guy is asking 8500 obo. So what do you guys think? Supposedly the blue book value is around 6500, so if we calculate in all the work he just put in would you guys pay 8000/7500 for it(if he goes that low). Also what was the ski package? I assumed that it would have included a ski rack but the car didn't have one. Anyway sorry if this sounds too noobish but since my brother is trying to decide fast I thought that it might help if I get some knowledgable advice.

way too much, if you really, really want to pay 7500 for an e30 u r pushin it in my terms, however the only thing that would get me buying that is the all wheel drive, if it wasnt IX id say forget about it, so if you arent going to need the all-wheel-drive then def. not

Cool..I think you and I would be the only one's with a 91 ix. Here's one thing to remember (i'm going through this now) According to Bavarian a 5 speed 91 325ix is the rarest e30. You have a better chance finding and m class then that. My trannie went out and I had a hell of a time finding one. For the most part the parts are standard e30 but thiers a few that your going to have trouble getting. As for the price I think it's a little high. for that kind of money you could jump up to an e36 (next model 3 series.) But it is nice having a rare car.

id say its a little high and if anything else goes wrong your going to pay out your ass for the parts. we just changed controll arms on my friends 88 ix and because its an ix the controll arms were 500$ thats with a deal.... and we installed them ourselves, so just beware of the things that are IX specific other then that sounds like a good car, see if you can drop the price a bit.

Thanks for the replys,do you guys think that the kelly blue book value of 6500 is good. Is there anything that about the car other than the price that bothers you(without being able to look at it)? Oh and I almost forgot what was included in that ski package? thanks again.

I know they automaticly come with the cold weather package. Which consists mostly of heated seats. Mine came with a ski rack. Also if you remove the center arm rest in the middle of the back seat you will find a black bag. If you put your skis in the trunk it goes into the black bag so you don't get your interior wet and dirty from the ski's.
