87 325es AT...change bulb for gear indication - BMW Forum

I was able to take apart the console around the AT gear shift and can barely see the bulb...for the fear of breaking something I did not try to force it apart. Does anyone know how to get the bulb assembly off of the AT shaft fo I can replace the bulb? Thanks, Ted

Pull it out toward the bottom. Inside the holder is a 2721 lamp you can readily find at an auto parts store.

is there a bulb in 1987 325e, AT Console? I can't find one inside the console....?

Left hand side of part #9 of the diagram in this link:

The lamp holder will have two wires coming from it. The lamp holder/lamp is pulled out downwards to remove it. It's easier to reach if you remove the shifter trim (the plastic piece with PRN etc).
