(86 325es, 89 325i) Please Read!!!

I have a 1986 325es which is in great condition and im trying to fix everything so i can use as a daily driver... i also have a 1989 325i which is my parts car because it has bad body damage... my issue is that the 86es is hard to start, has a rough idle, and blows gray,black,white(rich) smoke other then that the engine is in great condition. as for the 89i it runs excellent like a top so what do i do. can i fix the 86es with the 89i parts or are the parts not interchangeable. or should i just swap motors and electronics??? i have new plugs, wires, coil, cap, rotor, starter, fuel pump, i have new fuse in trunk for computer because it was blown when i bought the car, battery, it gets great spark and the fuel pump works great, i know my problem is the fuel air mix so please help me fix my 89es or tell me to just put the 325i motor in there im so lost and tired of coming home with the same problem... thank you also i noticed that the engines were different sizes weird the es is bigger then the i

Swap the "i" motor into the 325es, then swap the engine wiring harness and computer. The 325i has a 2.5L engine that puts out more Hp and revs higher than the es motor, the 2.7 has a longer stroke for more torque and better efficiency.

hah no its literally a direct swap if you swap the harness and computer and radiator also...
