'86 325 Trunk Leaking - HELP! - BMW Forum

Like the title says, my trunk is leaking badly. It's always moist in there and has begun rusting.. The seal still looks decent and "puffed"(not flat). Are there any other places i should check/seal off? Around tail lights?

definitely pull the taillights, (it's only 3-4 bolts) and run a bead of silicone acros the tops.

if you want to be certain of where it is leaking, open the trunk and pour water in the channel starting at the middle by the glass, make sure to have some towels handy to catch spills and leaks. the water will run down the channel and show where the leaks are.

pull the seal of too. Part of the metal lip that the seal sits on in my car was rusted right through. If all is well it wouldnt hurt to give the metal lip a light grease before you put the seal back on.
