| Hi, I just bought a 86 325es from my father's friend. He was going to give it to Goodwill for the tax refund, but I decided to take it off his hands for the amount he was going to get for the refund ($500).
I bought it as a "project". Other than some minor cosmetic damage,it's not too bad at all. However, there is a clutch problem. The car will not start in neutral, only in gear. When we start it in gear, the car pulls forward even when the clutch is depressed. Took it on a run around the block in first gear only. When I take it out of gear while it is running, I can't shift back into any gear. I had to shut it off and restart it in first. Also, there is a kind of rattle from below the engine.
I knew this before we bought it, and I'm having it looked at by our reliable/cheap mechanic. Just wondering if anyone knows the specifics or has had a similar problem.
