ok guys, break it to me easy. is it a head gasket or something else, like rings or valve guides

check your compression on all cylinders... take compression readings for both "wet" and "dry"... and that will tell you where the prob lies.

gas in oil =

stuck or leaking intake valves, (maybe adjusted just a little to tight on the intake valve clearance)

worn rings

ok, ill give that a try and post my results, what is the valve lash settings for that year?

cold engine:

0.008in/0.20mm COLD for both intake & exhaust.

done 1 cylinder at a time, of course, with each cylinder at TDC at time of adjustment

hey darkhorse, i know its been awhile but i found this old post of mine and im still having trouble with the injector, #3 to be exact, i took the valve cover off and i cannot see any way to adjust the valves, been a mech. for years. are the hyd. ? by chance? its an 85 318i
