Angry

Hello, I got this 85' 318i that now has too FAST an Idle. 2000-2500, a high, steady idle. It just started doing it today ghead

I checked the linkage, & it has no intake leaks . . . . . just a high, steady idle.

It did run great when it's cold, once it warms alittle, it was back up to 2000+
I tried changing the Air Stabilizer off another BMW I have sitting around and still the same. Exactly! Now after I messed with it awhile, it seems it's high no matter what!

The Air Conditioner is turned off

Anyhow, does anyone have any ideas? I seen a post on idles that surge, but nothing on if its a high, steady idle.

Any ideas would be appreciated!!

Frank

Same thing here, replaced hose from manifold to distributor and it worked up until it warmed and then :wham!: back @ 2k

Is yours doing this on warm starts or cold starts?

Used to run great when it's cold, once it warms alittle, it's back up to 2000+
But now it's the same idle even when I start it.
I tried changing the Air Stabilizer off another BMW I have sitting around and still the same.

It's kind of driving me NUTS! ghead

If anyone can figure this out let me know

It would, at gas prices currently. Drive a standard? Yeah, that would make it suck more. And hey, a 325e with a 4k idle? Thats crazy shit. I hope I don't blow that fuse.

Perhaps its a problem with your ECU. Though thats just a shot in the dark.
