84 325e poor accel / no revs / dying

ok well i just got an 84 325e auto

the problem is it has no power and will not rev and also like to die

it idles perfect around 700-800 but in park or netural i can only get it to rev to 3000rpm or a littel more and thats in
when driving it lacks power and if im floored only revs up to 3 grand or 3250 somewhere around there and wonte shift unless i let off some
It also like to die sometimes while driving and sometimes while just sitting there - when driving and it dies it will sometimes restart without me doing anything - and when it dose die it normally starts back up no problem but sometimes i have to wait a while to restart

- i have replaced / checked - plugs,coil,cap,rotor, fuel and air filter, fuel pump, oil, tranny fluid, i have also checked and cleaned some connections including AFM

the coil just went out today and now it wonte start at all ( i got it from the junkyard) its only been in like 2 days - could this have been the probem all along or do you guys have any other ideas

i just picked up the car froma friend with a burnt coil - i put one in for him and he said it was lacking power and i bought it from him
im gonna go get another coil but do you guys think anyhtign else could be wrong?

How's the fuelpump relay? I had a few sudden deaths simply because it wasn't in tight enough.
Also, did you check the sparkwire terminals on both ends or the lead from the coil to the cap? I ended up stripping a few of these to refit them. car runs nice now.

Check the plugs for the crank position sensor and Engine speed sensor just below the starter. Easier from underneath the car. Also check your fuel presure, the regulator could be stuck.
