84' 318, Good Buy?

I found a nice looking little beemer i was definetly considering. My 81 528 has crapped the bed and i found this 85 318i for 500 bucks, 150,000 minor rust on bottom or drivers door but otherwise clean plus im planning to get it painted right off the bat to stop any rusting, 5 spd transmission, interior is mint. As far as stereo goes im gonna take everything out of my old 5 series anyways. So honestly i dont think i can go wrong for 500 bucks, cause honetly whats the worst that happens, but i was more just looking to see what people thought about these specific series and advice

well, my first car was a 84' 318i, i really enjoyed it but when i got my 325i i noticed big diffrence in proformance. and for 500 bucks it seems like a good deal. just make sure you cheak for leaks under the car first.

They make great highway drivers, they get up to speed (eventually :P ), redline at 6.8k, and are pretty fuel efficient.

I got my '85 318 for $600 and I love it.

Not a speed demon, but still a beemer!

BTW, don't buy it if it's an automatic. The M10 and that sluggish tranny make for a real dog.
