82 5-speed blew - BMW Forum

hello everybody,

I'm stuck i have have an '82 320i 1.8L with the 5-speed of course and the tranny went out on me this weekend. thought it was the cluth, but after dropping tranny ....... let's just say it wasn't the cluth. I am wondering if anybody knows where i can find parts for the tranny? ie. bearings, rings,...god forbid gears. usually pretty good at finding parts but this is a puzzle.

the problem isnt finding parts...its opening the transmission, without all the BMW special tools theres no way you can do anything with that transmission...only the 4 speeds are garage rebuildable...you will either have to take it in, or get a new one

hey wut exactly happend when you transmission blew? i have an 82 320i just like urs and my transmission wont go into 2-5, all i have is first and reverse....

Its no good putting a 318 tranny in to a 320 all the ratios will be incorrect.
