I have just purchased a 1986 325ix. Its a euro spec car imported into Canada about 4 years ago. I am looking at installing a air intake kit to get a small power increase. Whats the feeling on this type of product. Do they even work. Had a K&N on MB300 and liked the difference and sound. I see them advertised on EBay claiming 6+hp ! Point me in the right direction, please

as long as it has a KN filter it should be good. If it is a shorter one, make sure it has a JimC design, otherwise go for the longer Dinan-style ones

Depending on which engine you have, you might also want to consider heat-shielding your cold-air intake... a must if you have the 2.5L inline 6, because the filter comes out right behind your radiator. (Hot-air intake!) If you do not shield the cone filter from heat, you may actually LOSE horsepower.
