320i 1989

Hi all,

weel I just got delivery my 1989 320i, with 83,000kms, a Jap import to Australia, I have a few comliance issues I have to deal with then I will be able to register it and finally drive it. While playing around with it I have come up with a few problems that will have to be addressed. I am new to the whole BMW thing, so any recomended books to buy etc would be greatly appreciated.

My questions.
1) I am after wiring info on electric windows, dirvers window doesn work, there is a very faint click that can be heard from the door, (like a relay or similar), but wondering if the probelm is likely to be electrical or mechanical.
2) What is the story with the engine check light on the instrument cluster, how doe it get reset and what does it mean.
3) what are the pin outs for the engine diagnostic plug.

ALso I need to make up an engine tuneup label and tire infomation label (in english) to satify the engineer who will be clomplying it, if any one could photograph one for it woul be much appreciated.

Sorry to ask so much of people, but I will try and offer ehlp and suggestions where I can.

2) the check light flashes when something is wrong. if any red led lights up on the checkpanel (above the rear view mirror), the check light starts flashing. if you press the 'check' button on the check panel the check light goes out, but the red led will continue to glow until you fix the problem.

And as manuals go, get the Bentley. Definitely worth the money, it has complete wiring diagrams and lots of detailed instructions.
