318ispower is an unknown quantity at this point

i have a 91 bmw 318is with a 5 speed in it well the other day i took of on a stop light and shifted kind of fast into 1,2and 3 then when i got to the next stop it didnt want to go into first and second gear and never wants to go into nutral ,i still got the 3,4 and 5 gears but not the first two has any body every had this problem i have never had any problems with this tranny no grinds or nothing but now its stock in front of my house not going anywhere i have no clue what it can be and can use any advice from anybody thanks

so it doesnt grind in 1, 2 and 3? The shifter doesnt go into the gear slot or what? Could you explain exactly?
