318 head for 2.7???

"Some guy" told me I could use the head off a 2.5 on my 2.7 eta engine and improve performance. Is that right and if so, which head.

Well the 318 head sure as heck wouldn't work.
It's got two fewer cylinders.

But yes, the 2.5 i-spec head can be switched out to the Eta engine, along with some other pieces to combine the low-end of the 2.7 and the revability and horsepower of the 2.5. If you stroked it to 2.8 liters, you'd have a real monster.

Thanks. That shows how much I know about BMW's! If I make the switch, will I lose compression? Another thread said the compression ratio would go down to 7.5 due to different pistons?

I don't know if it'll drop or not, but it's not going that low.

compression will drop and u will need to get custom pistons, or accept the lower compression ( i believe it drops to 8:8:1) and pick up pistons from a 528e or a Super ETA...

or shave the top of a 325i piston
