Heres what Id do. Honestly, Id hate to be a dick, but honestly, you should learn how to drive it better. You will go faster with better driver experiance and knowledge. I havent barely done shit to my car and I woop a lot of cars that have a ton of crazy mods. So honestly, Id say try and go into a driving class. On the track or something, and invest your money into maintaince and tires.
But if you just want to go fast straight, heres what Id do...
4.10 Differential(after all power upgrades)
JC Chip
Headers
Cat Back Exhaust
Cone Filter Intake w/heat shield(lukas BMW makes a really good one)
Intake Manifold
better Throttle Body
better Engine and tranny mounts
new radiator(alluminum)
new water pump
The last two you should do because it will help keep things running better because you want your engine to stay nice and clean and cool.

There is no comfort in driving a car... that you dont know what it can do.... learn to respect... or it wont respect you. Driving schools are cool.. and fun. Its worth a few weekends of time to learn your car. Then start the improving trend. You might find you dont need to improve upon what god has already deemed a beautiful work of mechinery *BMW*.
see what I mean dax? there are many a'people that will back me on this. you needa learn before upgrading.. as my mechanic always tells me:
"you gotta fix the nut behind the wheel before you start fixing the nuts on the car"

I need a significant boost in power without breaking the bank, im prepping my car for drift, and my suspesion should be finished in about a week. i already have a 4.10 lsd to go with what i have but i need more, its hard to get an e30 sideways when you are running 17x7.5 lightweight wheels(Volk Racing TE-37) and really grippy tires even with all of the techniques ive learned at skip barber racing school for drift(i brought my car to their facility), my car does not have enough power, i like the lightness of the 4cylinder body compared to the 6cylinder but the power isnt as good.

Drifting is awesome..and im white..its not "For Japs" its the ultimate thrill of being beyond the point of control and controlling it...i can honestly say...My Name is Kyle and im a german car drift JUNKIE... Anyway..as far as power...swap motors..that would be a significant boost in power...i find that the torque of the 325e motor when modded is good...with lots of torque you can easily "Power over and the back end is gone but the only negative is you dont have many rpms to play with..i had to practice with the limited rev band but i got pretty damn good at holding it..if you want a longer rev band and more room for mods but less torque go with the i or is motor...and pick up the "Jap Drifting" video "Drift Bible"..you will find its a HUGE help... so enough of me supporting the "Jap" scene as our bmw friend soo kindly put it and have some fun...

e30s dont have a good setup for drifting. First off they are way to front heavy. Second, they dont have THAT much torque. And 3rd... they understeer naturally.
Your never gonna break those tires loose man, if you want wide sweeping drifts your gonna need some 195s or something small on that 1.8.
Also for your information, the 318 and 325 bodies wiegh the same...

when i said the 4cylinder body to the 6cylinder body i liked i meant the engine weight of the 4cylinder to the 6cylinder in the body

if you are so intrested in drifting buy a jap car thats why the cars are prodominately jap cars the hondas are cheap so get a used one and sell this car its not worth adding more power to ur Bmw just to drift race
buts thats my opinion dont be offended or take it if u dont want to
I've already started sliding my BMW. I can't realy drift because I don't have a LSD or anything, so its a little hard. But I can do breaking/feint (ooh, I should have said scandanavian flick! ) type drift. I know this because I accomplished one the other day. Its not imposable, in fact I think that the lightweight body really helps. Less weight = less strain on the car. Good learner. My advice to you is to let yourself learn from you car. Don't do anything stupid until you and your car have worked out an agrement. You don't need big power to drift, just big skill. p.s. Don't mistake ego for skill. Anyhow. If I can ever get a stickypod cam I'll have to make a video of me going stupid-style in my bimmer.
ALRIGHT GUYS! even thoh i am newb in these forums, i also want to drift eventually in my 318is, hondas are fwd not rwd u cant drift ina fukin fwd!!?! thats where bmw comes in with their rwd lsd setup stock on the iS, its amazing what these cars can do, even thoh i havnt tried it yet im sure they are capable of drifting...honestly they can do anything else regarding driving ------------------can any1 honestly tell me if its possible to put the m series motor in my car, from a 91' M3...people always say they dont know...

when it comes to swaping motors. Its all about if you have enough money to make it happen. I mean... you can put ANY damn engine in your car if you seriously have the scratch to see it happen. @_@
