Hi all. Ah yes...a newbie beemer owner askin a question.
On the dash right hand drivers side located next to the main light switch is another small swith with three settings on a dial type switch. Can someone please tell me what this switch is for?. I know it has something to do with the lights but maybe its not working properly or something but god knows if I can make out what it actually does!. Scuse the ignorance but hope someone can help . Cheers :-)
As it sounds as if you may have a euro-version the only thing i can think of is it may be the shift program selector. On NA models this switch is on the shifter console, but european versions are different in many ways than NA models. Does it say E, S or 3-2-1? Otherwise I have no idea.
Hi Silversled. No the shift selector is where you said, beside shift stick. The only thing I can think of is some kind of reverse light switch or similar?..Its located just beside the main light switch. Its a small dial with 0 1 and 2 on it.
well, I just went out and looked at my 1988 E30 to verify, it is just as the owners manual displays, the only thing next to the headlight engagement switch mounted on the dash itself is a rectangular button that engages the foglights. That's it...no 3 position switch. Maybe somebody put something in there after the fact, which may explain why you can't figure out what it does, or doesn't do....in any case, and that seems to be the case, best of luck on figuring that one out.....
that's exactly why I asked if this was a european model because the euro cars do have rear fog lights as well as front fog lights for safety, I thought I asked that earlier...come on...work with me here....
I suppose it would help to state the country in which you reside in order to help others to help yourself.....I live in the United States....because don't think for a minute that a euro version of any BMW is the same as a us version...very different laws and quite different cars...they may look roughly the same, however..... they are not.....
and, as a result, we may waste each others time due to simple assumptions.
I shall make it a point from this point forward to be sure to say that my car/issue/problem is a North American version of said model. Let's make that an unofficial rule....to avoid confusion...OK? After all, we are a global society, as it were....
Im in NewZealand. So I think it may be euro version. Hmmm..I think it may be a foglight switch...get back to you on that one. "runs off to investigate"
