1989 325ix no start issue
My husband has a 1989 BMW 325ix. We bought it last May and it drove pretty well until about November 2013, when it started to get cold out. It started having issues starting. It would crank and turn over but it had issues starting. My husband would sometimes work with it until the battery would die before he could get it started. Not knowing much about diagnostics, he thought it could be the o2 sensor. Now after 6 months of trying this, crank, trying that, no crank..I have finally decided to ask you all for some help. I know I'm a noob, but please don't be mean, just want a few suggestions.
What has been done:
New battery, new exhaust headers, muffler, o2 sensor, new main relay, fuel pump relay, o2 sensor relay, ignition coil, new spark plugs, spark plug wire set (seeing as the original spark plug wires pulled out of the engine manifold in my husband's hand). No codes are being thrown with the code reader. Engine ground wire is fine. At one point, we had no spark from the plugs, but it started up anyway. The initial problem in November was the thought that it couldn't start in the cold. It is now spring and still will not start. Now it isn't even trying to crank. Any suggestions will be much appreciated! Thanks!
