1988 325is running problems - BMW Forum

When i try to start my car it always takes at least 2 tries to turn it over. once it starts and i start moving it has hardly any power and barely makes it up hills. once the car is heated up (thermo gauge is in the middle of the blue) it will run fine.........until i give it gas to pass someone, or just accelerate fast. then it dies down and acts like it was when it was cold. im thinking its the Idle Control Regulator, but im not mechanic. anyone have the remedy?

Im also selling it so PM me with a price if your interested!

money's tight so i would rather see it with someone that can keep up with it because its a beautiful car!

and it just recently started making this backfire noise coming the engine bay though. and this is as its acting up

Go through the basic list of things that will give you lack of power.

Basically check your spark plugs and wires, run a bottle of injector cleaner, check your distributor and so on. You might also want to check your fuel filter as our cars are fairly old and have done some sitting somewhere in their life.

But i can almost guarantee your problem is somewhere in the list of things i mentioned.

backfiring is clearly not good....I'm sitting here trying to think of how back firing could even happen on that car.....first thought is someone 'worked' on the engine recently. Hmmm...I gotta think about this one
