what's an inner tie rod? there is no inner tie rod on an E30...as opposed to an outer tie rod? no, it's a tie rod assembly, one piece attached to the rack and the steering....

yes it is more common to find tie-rod assemblies at parts stores but you can also buy each separately. The outer tie rod just screws into the inner tie rod
there is no inner tie rod on an E30....there just isn't....I'm sorry but that's it.
Now there may be a misunderstanding of termonogly but there is only one adjustable tie rod end on the E30 on each side, 2 per front end, not 4 as you would suggest....
actually looking at the replies I don't think you all know what you are talking about, call me a 2 toed horny toad but I don't think you know what you are talking about....there is no inner/outer tie rod on an E30...it's simply the tie rod...1 piece...that's it....only adjustable at 1 point only...tell me I am wrong....

I was the only other reply.........& from what I understood in his thread, he just asked how to remove the inner part of the tie rod.....he also asked for a step by step website to help..... The E30 Tech link seems like a pretty reliable source..........so with that, I have to ask, what is a 2 toed horny toad?

johnny......
....only a 2 toed horny toad can give you that information johnny
as for the inner tie rod....ill be posting a picture within the next couple of days clearly labeled with what most people consider the inner part of the tie rod assembly. the "outer" tie rod screws into the "inner" tie rod making!!!.....
yes, but it's all one part...the tie rod assembly...you can't purchase the components individually as far as I know....maybe I am incorrect but from what I know the tie rod assembly hooks into the rack and the knuckle with an adjustment available kind of in the middle. That's it, maybe it is a matter of termonolgy.
you are able to purchase just the inner or outer tie-rods, a quick search on google can find that out easily. and yes, there is a thread in the middle of the assembly, but that only attaches the outer to the inner. The inner tie rod is where it connects to the rack. I am no fool, so do not perceive me as one
well, tell you what, if Bavarian AutoSport doesn't sell the parts independantly than whatever....you could be right...but...I don't know.....seems false to me, there's got to be a reason they don't sell the individual rods into this common sleeve...just doesn't make any sense to me....the adjusting clamp appears to me to not be able to withstand that kind of component replacement.....but you apparently know more about this than do I...so
if you are an honest and forthright individual you will honestly share what happens on this episode. I say you have to replace the entire tie rod assembly, the sleeve is the adjustment point. If you can replace part of it then great...but, be candid and post as to the result. I have stated what I believe to be true and can certainly accept it if I'm wrong, but I don't think I am. I wouldn't listen to some of this other monkey jabber myself...
and perception is more a matter of your demonstration than anything else. Knock it off...it's all common sense here and to provide goofy solutions as opposed to actual repair only leads others to false economy...that's enough on this one for me...you cannot replace independent tie rod components on an E30 with any success...you just can't, and I emphasize the success part of that statement....won't work.....
