1987 325e turn signal knob

hi , when I make a turn with lights on, the high beams magically appear on, also, can be random thing when not turning, if i lightly hold the knob, it will not go to high beams? any simple checks/fixes without having to replace harness/switch? all functions working fine otherwise, plb

The signal lever is likely worn out.

Agreed. Replace the turn signal stalk. I had a similar issue with a Subaru I used to own where the lights would turn off altogether when I put my turn signal on ... really fun when you're driving around at 3 am and the lights cut out mid-turn.
