1985 318 A Project Car?

I have a chance to buy a 1985 318 for 500 bucks, guy says car still runs, but has rough idle. Interior is also damaged, but I don't care about that. I need a decent trak car.

I have in mind complete suspension rebuild, springs, shocks, camber plates, sway bars and so on, better clutch and a LSD.

Of course later when I get more money S50/M50 swap.

Is 1985 a good platform for that? Or should I just spend $2200 or so and get a decent 1989 325 IS????

if you have the money get the "is". otherwise, depending on how long it will be until you do the m50 swap i wouldnt get it if it will be a while
