Just acquired a 1977 320i with 100k miles on it, It's in very good shape and was well taken care of. The previous owners, same family owned it since it was new - went from the father to the daughter, put lead additive in the gas with every (most) fillups. Is this necessary? What happens if I discontinue doing this?
You will burn the valve seats out...if you dont keep adding the additive, you can have it adjusted to run on unleaded, think they do something to the timing, I cant really remember,long time since I had one done.
