IMHO, BMW's are made to drive and to enjoy. Drag racing a BMW is like painting a car with a paint brush.... why. I know there are a lot of kids out there who want to race you from one red like to the next because they put a new fartcan on the back and think they got an extra 20 HP. Its a BMW... not a civic.
Again, IMHO, to fully enjoy a BMW, you need to put all the windows down, find a nice country road, and take her for a casual, spirited, drive.
look, i understand what your saying rolandmw, that's why my bmw is my daily driver, but every once and a while i like to open her up and see what she's got .
the reason for this post was just to see how many real tuners are out there and what have they done to their E30's to perform better. I mean seriously performance is performance, and any car enthusiast will say that it is always good to find a way to make a car perform better. After all arn't we driving "the ultimate driving machine"? :wink

With my 1987 325es' current turbo set up, I'm running 12.16@113.40 1/4 mile - 7.80@90.68 1/8th mile with 12 lbs. of boost. After I rebuild and finish my tubular header, I'm shooting for 11's maybe 10's. However, due to the cost of 101 octane, I think I may retire my 1/4 mile hobby and detune for pump gas.

most curious what all have you done to her? running 12 lbs. of boost you must have lowered the compression to do so, but what else? i mean if all you did was double stack the head gasket and slap the turbo set up on there low 12's is most impressive
i am thinking about going the turbo route on my E21 ETA swap, but thinking about running down the diesel crank and rods, doing an I head conversion, MAF set up, cams, etc.......

Howzit guys my best 1/4 mile time is 14.6 @ 157km/h. I still wanna do a run at sea level as i believe it makes a big difference in your time.
Bmw 325 body 1991 model with a M3 3.0l motor (S50).
My setup runs as follows: 6 into one unequal lenth header (for now), T3/T4 hybrid, custom MLS headgasket, total seal piston rings, custom intake, 21mm wastegate, high limit credit card, and a lot of time. And thats about it. (I'll keep some of the specs to myself for now :nana ) Other than that a good light reaction, and a clutch stop and good tires shave off time too. I swear if I don't make it into the 10's by may of next year, look for my car on ebay.....
there was some guy awhile back hitting like 8's with his turbo'ed E30 M........so i would think you could take it there
can i get other details, injectors, chip, etc......over PM? i am curious how much i need to do to do my little swap with a nice turbo set up.

havent done an "official" timed quarter mile, the manual says like 14s, but i have done my 0-60 in 7.9s, timed on my car's computer, which is decent for a car with stock 167hp (with intake spark plugs and new cylinder head). Also its an auto so i was starting from a dead stop idling to just flooring it, with a 5spd i could do much better. also again i dont really want to launch my baby, 134k miles on the factory tranny hasnt left it exactly sparkling clean, im a little afraid as to what might happen if i tried it
