A civic Si is roughly 2800 lbs. Its a 1.6 liter, not 2.3 inline 4 cylinder. Find out what engine he has. If it is the d16a or the b16a. One has 108 hp and the other has 170hp and 110 ft/lbs of torque. This is due to compression, head design and VTEC. Its all high end power, the powerband starts at 6000 and ends at 7600. Your 325is is 3080 lbs and is a 2.5 liter inline 6 with 188 hp and 181 ft/lbs of torque. All of this is mid rev power, from 4100-5900 rpms. This race will all lie with who has better gearing and whos a better launcher. Youll get him off the start though, no question about it. He may pull past you in 3rd though

naw 318 would have almost no chance of winning. In a straight line that is, bring in the curvies and i dont know what would prevail, the better suspension and RWD or the power. 318 methinks
hah you guys were waayyyyy wrong... first off its a 2k3 civic si with a 2.3 liter and i beat the shit out of him... 2 car lengths then 3 the whole time.... but all what you guys said is what i thought would happen...
Sorry to say but honda never has and most likely never will make a 2.3 liter engine. they have made in the past and currently a 1.5, 1.6, 1.7, 2.0, 2.2, 2.5(acura), 3.0, and 3.5 (acura)
The only engines that come in civics were 1.5, 1.6, and 2k3s have 1.7L. The SI hatches have 2.0 liters

really? very interesting. I would think that the BMW would turn that Si into mincemeat...........even a 318 would have a chance....but it is light [/b][/quote]
You could be driving an F1, bog the launch, grind into second, and that Si will have beat you down like a red headed step child.
LoL guest... so what the honda has 160 hp, it still has no torque and thats what matters. The honda has 110 ft/lbs of torque and thats at 5000 rpms, the bmw has 170 ft/lbs and it starts at 4000 rpms. Its not that light, its 2700 or 2800 depending on year. And so what if the honda has vtech. VTEC engages at 4500 rpms, so your statement about him hitting 3rd and VTEC egaging is false. If he is a good driver after the first part of 1st gear VTEC should never disengage because all his power will be at 7000 rpms anyway. If the cars had power to match, then the honda would pull at the top of everygear. HOWEVER, his e36 bmw is equiped with VaNoS which engages twice though the power band. So bmw is still better here, there, and every where. So Sam I am I will not eat your green eggs and ham.
BTW the 108 hp engine your talking about is the d16a. And it hasnt been put in a honda since '95. he said this was a 2k3
LoL im glad someone is reading my stuff.... (sarcasim, i just wrote 2 paragraphs saying that there is no 2.3)
