i've seen a lot of people on the 5 forum with 528i's complaining about the cooling fan and i remmeber there was a forum where a guy found out how to tell if your hose is original or not, and he did state that radiator crash is a common issue. If it is, we need to file a big complaint, as in everyone on this and other e39 forums, so that the recall would be made!

As I am not aware of HOW MANY incidents are related to the fan out there; it becomes not so easy task...unless of course we can obtain/compile some records of so many incidents with a trend. Also if this has been a common defect without a recall I am sure the Automobile safety authorities are very aware of it by now. Having argued that at BMW they are also aware of the consequences if they choose to ignore it......I doubt it though because I have seen them recalling for something as little as seat belt latches or a hose......will be doing some research on that I promise......also see what you can come up with...later
