I seriously doubt that the recalls would have anything to do with the problem you guys had. The most common recalls are a SMG relay recall which involves swapping 2 electrical pins in the relay connector and replacing the relay, the other is reprogramming the SMG module, both of which are very non-intrusive and are nowhere near the drive belt/alternator area.

Reversing the recalls is an upsurd idea .... RECALLS ARE DONE FOR A REASON!!
You should read the recall notices that were sent to you or your Dad and see WHY they were done before you make suggestions like that.

Just make sure the belt work is done and is done properly and I'm sure all will be well. Coincidences do happen you know :-)
