jkh2828 is an unknown quantity at this point
Hey guys,

Just changed my oil for the first time on this 318. Smelled like gasoline more than most cars.

Also, there was oil in spark plug # 2.

My CA smog test said I was at the limit for hydrocarbons (HC).

Do you think these could all be connected? I also just swapped out the O2 sensor, hoping that will fix a bit of the problem.

I imagine the smog HC was so high b/c there was so much gas vapor in the oil - but why is it getting in there? 113K on the O2 sensor - so it could have been shot, and making the fuel / air mix too rich, so the fuel has no where to go but the oil.

Thanks for the suggestions as to why the gas smell in the oil.

jkh
