I have driven the 328i (e36) the 325i and 330i. It was hard to believe initially that the 330i can possibly get its ass kicked by a 328i in a race ( not drag!) but a 325 i is significantly slower then a 328i e36 anyday man...sorry to say that.....its plain out a slow bmw (unless its modified well!)
I love my E46 too and its a great car, but i just moved from a yr and half of owning an e36 (328i) to a 330i(e46) and I am quite sure of the differences!!
E46 all the way too!! but E36 is quicker.......
