grant965 is an unknown quantity at this point
I'm in the military and usually live in Germany. Recently I rented a Euro-spec 320d to drive from Frankfurt to Amsterdam. I fell in love. It was brand new (6 km on the odometer). Even not being broken in, I averaged just under 50 MPG driving about 100 MPH the entire way. No kidding. It had tons of power, was as fast as I could drive without scaring myself, and handled like it was on rails.

I asked the local BMW military sales dealer (which sells US spec cars only) when BMW will be offering diesel cars for the US market and he said not any time soon.

So, my question is this: If I buy a Euro spec 320d, what will I have to do to convert it to US specs when and if I ever return to the States? Anyone out there ever done anything like this before? I really want a 320d and would be willing to shell out up to about $5000 to get it converted, but only if they don't have to alter the car too much.
