Yep. Bill has already explained how to get to the battery. I have a 92 525 and I did replace my battery 8 months ago. You just need to pull your rear seat up. If you try to feel under the seat edge, you will find those 2 latches. There are not too many things down there, so it would be easy spotting the battery. I bought mine at autozone. BMW doesn't make battery. Of course there are good and not so good companies. But the autozone battery comes with warranty and stuff. You should not have problem with it. Or you can get it replaced at the dealer for more than $110, if i recall it correctly. Your call.

Good luck

Excellent reply and I did buy an after market battery for about $80, works just fine for 2 years and counting

Hey, there is a battery under there! Thanks for the help. I was looking for some kind of latch. I am still curious if anyone knows why you can't push start (since I live on a hill...it would be so convenient!). Thanks, Paul (OK, no more volvo jokes. Are honda jokes allowed?)

I am sure the hire is joking only. I won’t push start a bimmer. Not sure if you have a rather large BOLT living on the top of your engine with (+) symbol on-usually has a plastic cover. If so use it to jump your car in emergency.
Good luck
