It is important to remember wattage means nothing in the grand scheme of things. A sub rated at 100W RMS getting 100W RMS will sound better than a sub rated at 1000W RMS getting 500W RMS. Also, it is important to look at the THD rating of the amp at its measured power. Any amp is capable of high output, but the THD is so high what comes out of the sub isn't music. Any cheap amp rated above 600W RMS falls into this category. Just remember peak power doesn't mean anything. Buy based on RMS and low THD (anything less than .1%).
