As usual It varies from year to year due to recalls and The after fixes; many E28 owners complaints can be summarized as follows:
A. Prior to the 87 models some auto transmissions did fail at around 100-130k. Some had a solution that involved the drilling of an additional hole giving the tranny better ATF circulation.
B. The guibo: a damper-rubbery disk did break up. I am sure they came up with a better one.
C. The good news? E28s have many choices of upgrades available. Thus and since you are 16 you simply can take an E28 where you want it to be.
