The e46 325i has 192bhp and the 330i has 231bhp.
The E60 525i has 192bhp and the 530i has 231bhp, the 545i has 333bhp.
There may be slight discrepencies due to the way uk and us bhp figures are calculated (we use standard bhp, you use sae bhp.)

HERE And appear to be the figures BMW were toting at the genever motor show earlier this year for the new model e90 which will be released in Europe in spring 2005 - not sure about the US. What seems incredible to me if the maximum bhp is achieved at 6500rpm on the 2.5ltr - previous 2.5ltr models redline at 6000rpm. I also find it amazing that since my engine was the top dog of the 2.5's up until 2000 BMW have managed to squeeze another 48bhp from a 2.5ltr unit - damned amazing.
So Mr Pentium Guy I would assume that the 5 series engines will be replaced with these new units as soon as production is under way OR like with the e39, when it is deemed a facelift is required (2000 here, 2001 US angel eyes & wider grill fitted + 523 (170 bhp 2.5ltr)was replaced with more powerful 525 (192 bhp 2.5ltr), 528 replaced with 530). I doubt there will be many reliability concerns as from what I have heard BMW have not designed a new unit "bottom up" but just used their engineering genius to squeeze more power from and lessen the weight of the existing units.
