Perhaps forum members can help. Had our l'il 318i since '87, still has only 64k miles on it! Black over tan, standard (too soft) wheels, and that, well, unsophisticated and rather gutless 4 cylinder lump that runs like a charm and sips gas. It's rorty, fun to drive, and handles well enough. Sure could use some more get up and go though.
We've been thinking of replacing it. It has a few very small dents (NY car but garaged), shines like new, all original. But it's 20 years old, no airbags, and I'm guessing the only deforming structure they were thinking about in '84 was the passenger.
Drove a Mini this weekend a couple of times. Zippy, but a tight fit, and fwd is a (bad) trip. Man, always have to be gripping that steering wheel to death. Where'd self-centering go?
So we're keeping it. I'd like to get it (me) a nice wood steering wheel, something classic, like a wood Momo. Proper wood, like the Italians throw on their Alfas, not a Lincoln Navigator "wood" plush petro-product thing. Ideas?
Thanks,
J-10
And anything anyone would care to say about wheels and tires would be welcome. |
