I went on ebay to see if I could get a hold of the Nikon d70. And all I see is people asking around $2000 US for that camera . And you got accessories on top of that . Man if you wanted to unload 2g's I wouldv'e happily accepted it. Still I guess its worth the pictures.
i was lucky actually; heres the story...

back in winter of 03, the canon 300D digital rebel caught my eye. I was so close to buy it till my friend who works at Ritz Camera told me the upcoming Nikon D70, out in spring of 2004. After reading prototype reviews and comparison with the 300D, i soon preordered the camera. My friend told me once the D70 comes out, they will be gone within days.

So the day came in March when the camera came in. I was in the first shipment of the D70 to the united states...so i would presume I am one of the first ones to get these gems.

Im evil but Im laughing at all the ppl who dont have one now muhahahah. They should have preordered it lol. CDW has it in backorder; my friend ordered one and hes #154 on the preorder list..last time I checked, Amazon.com is gettin their first shipment in June. Apparently, my friend says they can only produce the preordered list customer first before they can start producing for retail stores. I think ebay is charging, you said $2000, is because they got the camera..but the demand is so high that almost anyone will pay extra.

Prior to the D70, i had a shitty fujifilm finepix f401 (which I won on ebay.com) and a Nikon FM10 35mm that my mom purchased for me for my photography class. Niether camera were really used, the 35mm was not used after the class was over and the fujifilm was my temp camera...waiting for it to be replaced.

My friend at Ritz Camera hooked me up: he said since I had all the packaging to both cameras, he can 'exhange' them at the store to get store credit, which will be towards the D70. I was like hell yeah!

On top of that, my friend also has a lens that retails for $100-200 (i forget); he got it for me for $25! lol. Not to mention, free microcloths, straps, and nikon keychain/knife.

In the end, i saved about $500 from the D70 body (retail $999 | no lens), about $75-175 from the lens, + free stuff. I was quite happy with the transaction

umm...the end lol
