I see these cars all over the place out here and from what i here they are way overpriced for what they are. This is just the entry level BMW. But they also make a 120d which since it is deisel gets really good gas mileage. Here is the 0-62 mph times...
116i - 10.8
118i - 9.4
118d- 10.0
120i - 8.7
120d- 7.9
130i - 6.1
Also the 130i comes stock with 265 bhp which does make it pretty quick but it is no M3. I bought my car for 30,000 USD and it runs the 0-62 in 5.3 secs. I think these cars brand new (130i) are going for around 70,000 USD. But the prices here in Australia for a BMW are pretty high.

My M3 is a Hybrid.................It burns gas and rubber.
shouldnt the order from least to most expensive be 1,3,5,7? wtf
Yeah that is the way it is. A brand new 3 series will cost more than a 1 series but i was just trying to say for the money you could buy a older 3 series with alot more power for alot less than one of these new. But not everyone cares about the power they are getting. For example my wifes mom wants one of the 1 series because she thinks they are cute. But i want alot of power for my money so these wouldnt suit me.

i think he was trippin out over the 70k USD price tag you assigned to it. thats why he was confused on why a 1 series would cost much as a base 6 or 7 series. In my opinion the better versions of the 1 series will cost around or alittle above the 328i's price of $32k but thats just how id see it? Who knows yet.
Well i just looked up one out here for sell at a dealership for sale and this is what i found: 2006 130i Sport E87 -78,991 AUD (64,522 USD) Maybe it is because it is right hand drive but still that is a pretty nice price tag for the entry level BMW.

A 650i coupe is AUD 206,000 (US$ 168,267) before options in Asutralia. People seem to always forget that cars are priced extremely lower here in the U.S. than pretty much everywhere else in the world, thanks to the huge market.
