What do you all think? How much of the extra cost is for the BMW Symbol? I believe the Z4 has more low-end torque, but what about performance times? Luxury? Etc.

once you add up all the options together to make the cars similar they are also similarly priced so price shouldnt be a factor. the styling of the S2000 far exceeds the Z4 in my opinion.

The Honda S2000 already comes standard with everything... Bose Sound System, Leather(ette), Alloy Wheels, power everything, etc. I'm fairly certain that there aren't any stock options that you can add to it.

well from what i gather performance wise the 3.0 z4 performs better than the s2000, but the 2.5 cannot match the s2000, however in the case of a choice of s2000 and 3.0 z4 i would probably take the s2000.

Heh... so how are they the same price if you add the options to the S2000, when the S2000 doesn't have any options (everything comes standard)? At first, I thought that I may have been mistaken but I checked the Honda website and went to my local Honda and confirmed that there are no options available for the S2000 since it already comes with leather, bose surround sound, 6-cd in-dash cd player, alloy wheels, etc etc etc.

I hope that isn't sarcasm, because none of those are options that would make the S2000 the equivalent of the Z4 to fill in the price difference.

In handling, an S2000 and a 3.0 Z4 are about the same, but in the straight line the Honda is slightly faster. Personally, I think the new 2004 S2K's look way better than the awkward angles of the Z4.

The S2000 is faster than a roadster that costs $10,000 more? I thought it was faster than the 2.5, but slower than the 3.0.

i would take the z4 no doubt have you test driven the s2000 and z4 the z4 although the pictures make them look questionable they look absolutly beultiful in person everything just comes together
the s2000 to me just looks tired and take it for a test drive if tork at all means anything to you at all that crosses of the 2000 there is no pull out of the engine untill about 3500 to 4000 rpm and at that level you get what you basically got at 1000 rpm out of a z4 3.0
make your own decision and don't make this decision on paper go see and drive these cars i don't think you will be sorry with either one once you see them

I bought my Z4 in July after having just come to an agreed price on a H2000. The Honda came out about $6,500 less but there were some issues. The H2000 is basically designed to simulate a race car. It has virtually no creature comfort amentities. It doesn't even have a glove compartment. The cockpit lacks space to store anything bigger than a cigarette pack. The trunk is very small although I could fit my golf clubs as long as I didn't want to store anything else there.

The low-end torque is troubling. In a test drive, it felt more like a Mazda Miata until you got above 6,000 rpm. Since most cars I'm used to redline at that level, it would require relearning how to shift and drive.

I haven't had one moment of regret with the Z4. I'm not sure about the Honda, but the BMW's DSC and DTC in the severe winter we are having here have been nothing short of sensational. It also handles like a dream in good weather.

I also heard that the H2000 Original Equipment tires only last a few thousand miles. Different tire sizes on the front and back also complicate things.

The Z4 is a great high-performance sports car which doesn't lack for amentities (many of which are unavailable on the Honda). If you want to race, perhaps the H2000 might beat the Z4, but not by much. But how often would you do that?

In all the test done that I have looked at, the 2.5 comes up short over the honda, the 3.0 will out accelerate the honda, on the track, the cars come up fairly close, but the honda looses it every time on the straights.

As of yet, I have not read of any test that the S2000 out accelerated the 3.0 Z4

I normally hate Honda, but I drove a Honda S2000, and so far that is the only Honda I like. For 2004, they also increased the displacement from 2 liter, to 2.2 liter, so it has a little more bottom end torque, but they also dropped the redline by a good amount of RPM. They feel good, and handle real sweet!

If you show your BMW love, she will love you in return.
