I just bought a 2001 Z3 - will a wind screen significantly help reduce wind in the cockpit? any suggestions on brands?

In my opinion, wait and see if you need it. We saw little difference with the stock screen on our 2000 Z3, but there was so little wind to begin with we decided not to buy it. We are, however, ex-motorcyclists (the Z3 was our consolation prize when we had to give up the motorcycles).

had similar question this spring for my my first convertible, a 99 z3 2.3 roadster. did i need the windscreen? i ran into 2 different z3 drivers that both had the windscreen and they said 100% yes, they were delighted with their results. so i bought one.

they are wonderful. wind is way down (especially with the side windows up), stereo is useable, my wife's hair doesn't blow all over the place.

i bought the bmw version, with the black netting.

I have an acryllic windscreen that I bought off of ebay and it makes a world of difference. It doesn't cut out all the wind, just those backdrafts that curl around and blow your hair into your eyes. For me, its a must.

I didn't think it would be that big a difference but it actually is. I have the factory one but I think they should all work about the same.

2001 BMW Z3
3.0i straight 6 engine
M badge series
Sports package
Winter package
Luxery package
Hard top
Wind deflector

Add ons:
Dinan cold air intake, Dinan software, Dinan High Flow Throttle Body, Dinan stage 2 suspension upgrade, Dinan Strut Tower Brace, 18 inch wheels, and don't forget the fancy pedals.
