I just purchased a 1998 Z3 for my wife. ( :devil I guess some people may believe that :devil ) anyway, I get a light that comes on in between the speedo and rpm. It is a ! inside a triangle, with a broken circle with a arrow point on the end. This car didn't have a manual with it. Any clues?
it's a DSC (*Dynamic Stablity Control*) light...which means one of two things, either there is a DSC fault OR you pushed the DSC button and the indicator is letting you know that DSC is off....either way it's showing you that DSC is offline.
Hello, just aquired my first 2.8 and i've got the same problem. It's a 1999 pre face list and despite pushing the button on the dash console - i can't get the light to go out. Can you help? thanks Medusa2.8i
Yeah, my light is only on when I push the button on the center console panel, so that may be while yours comes on. If it comes on when you start the car and then goes right out, I believe thats normal, as in it just lights up with the rest of the display for a few seconds then goes out.
I'm still not too sure on how this works or what it does, but I do know that this past January when we had real bad icy conditions this would always kick in when I seemed to go over a sheet of ice. The book says to disable it whenm ever driving on like roads made up of loose gravel, by pushing the button, thus causing the light on the dash display to come on. So, maybe you've diabled it by pushing the button by accident. If you need manuals for your cars, you could try Circle BMW's website, they seem to have a steady supply of them.
If you have pushed the button and the light remains on after a second or two, then odds are their is a fault in the system. You can get the system scanned to see if their is a fault code listed a the reason.
