Mercedes Benz ML430: From 0-60 problems and 60 days of service in 4 years.

My Mercedes Benz ML430 Year 2000 (50000 miles) has had more than 60 problems, and 60 days of service in less than 4 years.

I had to return the vehicle on 20 or more occasions to Autonation/Smythe European (the dealer) for warranty repairs. Currently Mercedes Benz has indicated that they will repurchase the car within 3-4 weeks.

I have had a 3.0 and now a 4.6 and have not had to have either repaired once.

The trucks seems very well built.

I think you would be happy with BMW.

I will not own a Benz as alot of the people I know who have them have nothing but problems with them.

Whoa! I thought the list is really impressive - from the perspective of keeping track of it!

I would still get the X5 4.4i. It is probably more reliable than the ML but I reckon it is no Lexus. Also, http://www.consumerreports.org/ have some interesting info.

Before you buy, you may want to check out the following list (updated 2004/3/30) - although not as long as yours - they are posts that highlight some of the issues ... list is divided into types of problems.

Transmission/throttle delay
http://bimmer.roadfly.org/bmw/forums/e53/4818401-1.html <- throttle delay problem! Dangerous!
http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=54748 <- This is for the X3!!!
http://bimmer.roadfly.org/bmw/forums/e53/4840630-3.html <- a "known problem"!

Leaky fuel injectors leading to potential engine fire!

Frontend control arm replacements!

Brake pad low light did not came on

Brake line

Instrument Cluster

SES light

Airbag Indicator Light
