valve chatter - BMW Forum

Hearing a ticking noise that appears to be comming from the left side of the engine. It sounds to me like valve chatter, but i am no mechanic. IT doesnt seem to go away when driving. The oil / spark plugs were recently changed, and i did not hear this noise before then. Any suggestions on what may be going on?

Oil ; Catrol GTX 10w-40
Spark plugs ; Bosch F 7 LDCR

Any suggestions would be appreciated thx.

check to make sure all the spark plugs are tight, when loose they can make a ticking sound or an exhaust leak type sound. If that doesnt do the trick use a stethescope or a long screwdriver as a listening device to try and narrow down the noise. What weight oil were you running before and what climate do you live in?

im not sure what weight it was before, it was mobil 1 synthetic. I will checkout the spark plug suggestion, i didnt hear this noise before so thats most likely what it is. I live in Florida. I am really hoping that its just the spark plugs and not something serious.
